Long-distance move from Franklin, TN to Palm Harbor, FL

This company was referred by a broker - never would have chosen them

We paid a broker based on a low ball estimate, meaning they quoted the job and then contracted it out to this company, but that's not how they represent themselves. They quoted $2200 to move a bed, a couch and roughly 10 boxes from Tennessee to Florida. The final bill was $3600 and the whole experience was disorganized and unprofessional. You get what you pay for so if you go with the cheapest option don't be surprised when the experience is subpar. Lesson learned. This company charged us $550 for a "long carry", meaning the distance from the door to the truck was longer than expected, but that's because they didn't talk to the apartment complex manager and politely ask to park closer for just a few minutes (we had just a few things to move). I wasn't there in person to handle it so I had to pay the $550 or they wouldn't leave the property with my stuff. I had to use Paypal to pay the driver but it kept getting declined because they thought it was a scam (!) I finally sent the money via Zelle. When the company called to deliver I wasn't given any options for the day and time and was told I'd have to pay an extra fee if I wasn't there when they delivered. I rearranged my whole schedule and then they were hours late in arriving. Then the driver told me there would be ANOTHER $200 service fee. When I told him to call the dispatcher he said, "They're not going to pay us anything, so what can you do for us?" I found out they were also a subcontractor (so broker, contractor, subcontractor) and told him I'd already paid $3600 for a $2200 confirmed quote so I wasn't going to pay anyone anything else. Most of my stuff was in decent shape but a mattress was only partially wrapped so the mattress cover was ragged and filthy. I won't be using it again. I think the reviews on this company are so uneven in part because so much of the work is contracted out to local guys or anyone willing to rent a truck it seems, so it makes sense that some experiences are good and some are terrible. For me, the takeaways are: don't assume the quote amount reflects the final price because chances are good it definitely won't, and if you take the cheapest quote you can find you're not going to have the best experience.

Bad customer service, low ball estimate charge more later.

This company moved me from Chicago to Los Angeles in October. They said they have a route to go to California two times a week and they will get my stuff to me before I even get there. They said they are a family owned local business, not brokers. This company brokers a larger moving company located in Atlanta. They underestimated the load, gave a good quote. Then the sales rep started calling every other day and said he can't hold the quote, I would lose it if I waited longer. Two guys showed up two days later than the scheduled date with couple blankets and partially wrapped my furniture, bed, promised everything will be wrapped properly at the warehouse. I was told they were going to ship the next day. I received a call 5 days later from Atlanta asking for partial payment. The rep said my load was sitting in the warehouse and I should have paid on the day of pick up which nobody told me. They doubled the total quote, said it was heavier than it was estimated. When the driver called to deliver, he said I have to pay for a U haul truck because it was not convenient for him to drive in the city. He said if I don't pay, he will put my stuff in the warehouse and I will pay a daily storage fee until I pay for U Haul. They charged me another $300 for the rental truck. They held my stuff hostage and forced me to pay all these extra charges. My furniture was completely destroyed. Cabinets were missing legs, my bicycle was broken with flat tires. My bed was not wrapped completely which they charged extra for wrapping. My tool box was missing. I received a dirty and disgusting red luggage that was not mine but had my clothes in it. I called and left messages, nobody returned my calls. They did not even give me a final bill. I don't recommend this company.

Long-distance move from Stamford, CT to San Jose, CA

Great Experience

Awesome crew. Packed everything carefully and quickly. Moving is pretty stressful, but the guys made the experience bearable. Good communication, prompt arrival, extremely nice packing, solid handling of several large pieces of furniture, flawless assembly, and disassembly. We felt in strong, steady hands. I would have no hesitation in recommending these guys to everyone!

Beware!! go Elsewhere.

BEWARE! This company overcharges, breaches contract, doesn't give half the required documents required by the FMCSA, and is managed by the most inept man I have ever talked to. This company even has 10 complaints with the FMCSA in 2019! A good moving company definitely shouldn't have more than one or two in a three month span!

[NAME EDIT], the manager doesn't care about customer service or even following the signed contract. He told me to "forget what the contract says" when I was complaining he was charging me $75 dollars per 7 steps instead of the STATED AMOUNT of $75 per 10 stairs. I

I would never recommend this company unless you want to see what a moving company SHOULDN'T look like.

Long-distance move from Ohio to Florida

Do not use this company.

I'm posting this review for all companies brokered by Connected Van Lines for the move. They were all shady, unprofessional and a scam. I used this company to move the contents of a 2 bedroom/2 bath apartment. They are a scam. They tell you one amount and then charge you more on the pickup day. They lie about the delivery time frame. They are unprofessional; whenever you call they get an attitude with you when checking on the status of your shipment. The company is a broker, so they contract your move out to another company. In my case, we found out one company was used to pick up the property, another was used to store it and a different company was used to deliver it. Each company tried to shake us down for more money. Even the contracted companies were shady. One company operated under two different names. We were told the property would be delivered in 5 days. When we called to ask where the property was, we were then told it was actually a 7-10 day window for delivery. When the 10 days passed, we called again and were told they actually had up to 21 days to deliver the property. Mind you none of this was told to us up front and it wasn't on the contract. When the property was finally going to be delivered we were told they needed another $1000 to deliver because "the truck couldn't fit in the apartment complex". This was based on the driver looking at google maps. The complex manager said trucks of that size always deliver to the complex with no problem. We also sent the driver a picture of a semi-truck parked in the complex. He still stated he couldn't fit and needed $1000 to transfer the property to a smaller truck to deliver the property. It was just a shake down for more money. In addition, they don't have "professionals" handling your property. They hire individuals from Craigslist to pack up and deliver. They also don't have a fleet of trucks. They have 1 truck and rent trucks from Ryder for your moves. Once they get your money, they don't return calls/emails, provide updates on your move, get attitudes, and lie about everything. Connected Van Lines changed the name of their company 3 times in one year. Adam, Rachel and Victoria are useless. The companies they used are American Home Relocations, Oceans Moving, Moving Services, and AJ Pro Logistics. Also, furniture was broken and another family property was in our shipment. We noticed they are putting fake 5 star reviews on goggle and yelp. If you look closely some reviews have the same verbiage but different names. Lastly, they are not rated A+ by BBB, it's an F!

Long-distance move from Kansas City, MO to Riverview, FL

Rude, UNPROFESSIONAL, and don’t abide by contact

I hired a broker that I was told and assumed they where the transport because of the luring name of Expo Van Lines. They coordinate moves (which they don’t make clear) but tell you to check there reviews and the DOT # (another lying technic). I don’t know it’s was another moving company until they arrived at my house loaded my things packed the truck and came with a invoice with a additional charge of $700 because I was quoted on Pounds vs cubic feet. I then called Expo Van Lines and asked how when they quoted and guaranteed me up to a certain pounds. This is when I found out they was a broker. ? The mover agreed to waive it for a $100 tip. I just couldn’t turn back. My things was loaded on the truck and I was ready for my move.

My things was supposed to be delivered May 27th. I contacted American Home Relocation on the status on my delivery because remember Expo Van Lines asked me what day I wanted it delivered. Now I find out that this was a EXPECTANT delivery date and they have legally 21 BUSINESS days to deliver your items before they start refunding $9.99 a day. Idgaf about the money! I paid to get my things delivered.

Fast forward.. FRIDAY was the LEGALLY 21 business day. I STILL haven’t received my things nor a call from this moving company. All calls has been initiated by me. I’ve called these people every week to get a update being when I called May 27th she told me it shouldn’t take the 21 days. The only information they provide me with is.. “it’s on its way ma’am. No information on who the driver is nothing. My hands are tied. I just don’t know what to do at this point. I just want my things

Update 06/29 I just received my things 06/28 at 6am Monday questioning when my items would be delivered. I received a call from the driver at 10:30 am today instructing he will be here at 2:30pm (no heads up) you are on there time. If you wait you have to pay for the driver to wait or lord if you needed to give your job notice you would be fired. I received a call at 5:30 pm from Tara a cs rep saying she was following up on the email received yesterday. I told her my things was delivered and she sounded surprised and “said your things was delivered today”? I asked did she know? She then in return tried to clean it up as if she knew. I thing asked regarding the contract stating she was calling in regards to the email sent yesterday morning. I asked about the refund but she continued to state that’s why she was calling. She then told me I’m not going to get snappy with her because I am no longer a customer! Ha.. when was I EVER tested like one! SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE AND STRESS! Don’t say you was not warned!!

Long-distance move from Columbus, OH to Milwaukee, WI

Avoid at all costs

I used National Relocation for my move from OH to WI. No idea they'd contract out to AHR. Raining for my pick up, I wanted to push it, but they said they'd be back in two weeks if I insisted, which was a deal breaker because of lease ending (they knew it was ending). For delivery, Jerry (#2 in co.) called me to say they only had one delivery person available and he put an ad on Craigslist for a guy in Milwaukee. I expressed my concern that a random, non-licensed/background-checked person would be involved. My concerns were ignored. The driver arrives alone. He insists everything is fine. I have a 6 foot dining table and other very large items he could not handle himself. I'm forced to send a Zelle payment to his Boss. I do not sign the contract consenting to begin unloading, he begins anyway. He didn't even have a dolly and asked me to drive him to Home Depot so he could buy one! I ask him to please stop and he threatens me, saying "you need to keep your cool and I'm going to lose mine." Mind you, all I was saying was "What's the plan? What are we doing here?" and "Please stop." I call his boss, who says to have him call him. He wouldn't pick up the calls. He doesn't respond, nor acknowledges anything I say. He just stares me down anytime I say anything. Then he abruptly stops, gets in the truck and drives away. Disappeared for an hour. Even though I'd ostensibly been robbed I couldn't call the police because what would happen to my stuff? Returns with a thing that old ladies use to carry grocery bags; I'm assuming that was the dolly -- didn't get used for anything. Eventually, I'm forced to help unload my own things just so he doesn't drag them across the concrete and into my home. Many of my items had heavy damage. They stacked a 60 lb. butcher block slab on top of my 51" flat screen! Every cardboard box was smashed in some way. This was an absolute nightmare.

Long-distance move from Nashville, TN to Jersey City, NJ

HORRIBLE experience!

This company goes by Handle With Care (using the name of a reputable company in California that is not linked to them). My review below is purely based on facts, not emotions:

- They have not delivered my things (as of 7/21) that were supposed to be delivered on July 2nd. Even worse, they aren't able to provide me with a delivery date and every time I call, they just tell me to be patient. It is extremely hard to reach their dispatch department and when they finally pick up the phone, they put me on hold for 20-30 minutes.

- The company DOESN'T KNOW WHERE MY THINGS ARE.

- When they picked up my things, there were a lot of hidden fees (i.e. they charged for packing materials and fuel over those materials!).

- The company never told me they were brokers.

- The company doesn't provide the information needed to pick up my goods from their warehouse and the location of my goods is unknown.

- They are asking me to sign a release form that obligates me to pay the full remaining balance (although I would pick up the goods myself) and it would also obligate me to release the company from any and all claim(s) for the loss or damage to any and all of my property.

- I asked for proof of insurance and they haven't provided.

- Customer service personnel is very rude

Long-distance move from Omaha, NE to Charleston, SC

WARNING ⛔️ ⚠️

American Home Relocation- Moran Eli Hasut (owner) Pick up May 09, 2021 requested delivery May 14, 2021, delivered July 6, 2021. Poor customer service, Tara “billing specialist” attempted to send a new invoice 30 days after original (paid in full 5/14/2021) invoice stating “I made a mistake”. American Home Relocation via email stated “would pay $9.99 per day for every day furniture not delivered per contract. At delivery, all but three pieces of furniture broken, torn, all hardware and legs lost to all pieces of furniture. Per contract furniture was disassembled/reassembled by American Home Relocation. Also, at delivery mover fell off truck lift with entertainment/fireplace center.

Upon contacting “Eli” about monies due per email of $9.99 per day, states “you’re delivered, we will not be paying you!” No further responses from emails or calls from either American Home Relocation or United Movers.

Excellent job.

I used American Home Relocation to move my stuff across the country, from Indiana to Virginia and have nothing but good things to say. They were professional, courteous, and efficient. They handled my belongings as if it were their own, never asked for more money, and answered all my questions. Reading all of these negative comments made me weary but not once did they give me the run around or not respond to my calls. The price charged was very reasonable and affordable. Most of all my moving men, Chris and Brian..the best ever. Thank you American Home Relocation!!

Please do Your Research And do Not Hire.

Broker subcontracted me thru American Home Relocation, for which I had zero control over, and the process has been an absolute nightmare. I have had a $2000 TV lost or stolen (said it has been found but no attempts to redeliver a month after initial delivery even though contract has been paid in full), $492 overcharge upon delivery without any proof of documentation or explanation, and a broken end table. All signs and research of American Home Relocation show they are an untrustworthy and fraudulent company, yet Patriot Moving Group linked me with them without any warning or consideration to my belongings, money, and most importantly, mental health. I have made repeated contacts with both companies yet customer service will provide no answers or explanations to resolve their negligence. Extremely disappointed in the entire process and feel my rights as a consumer have been violated. Very unprofessional in all aspects.

Long-distance move from Peoria, IL to Los Angeles, CA

Worst Company.

I am pretty sure all the 5 star reviews of this company are FAKE. I found out that I had to move unexpectedly across country within two weeks. I went with American Home Relocation because they gave me the lowest quote ($1300). The rep (Kevin) told me that the movers would come within a two day time slot (February 2-3) and I would be called 24 hours in advance before the pick up. I had to call several times just to find out an exact time the movers were coming, I left several voicemails and was never called back. The movers called me TEN MINUTES before they arrived (thank goodness I was not far when they called). When I met the movers and had some conversation with them, they told me they were not employees of American Home Relocation, but rather contractors that had rented their own truck. In other words, THEY WERE NOT QUALIFIED MOVERS. In addition, when it was time to pay I found out the company was now charging me $1800. I asked the mover why I was being charged $400 more and he said that I needed to pay for gas etc., when I asked why that wasn't in my initial quote he said he didn't know. So now I was being charged a much larger sum unexpectedly. Fast forward- I moved out to Southern California from Illinois, and found a great apartment. I was called on February 9th, one week before my chosen drop off date and told that my stuff would be on a truck that Monday and would arrive the Saturday date, February 16th. I was told again that I would be called 24 hours before the truck arrived. Friday comes, no call. I called and left several voicemails. Saturday, no call. Sunday, no call. I left 5-6 voicemails, and received no call back. At this point I'm very upset, and I'm worried that I will have to take off work to receive my belonging, or that my belongings would never come. I finally get on the phone with someone (I can't remember her name) and she says that my belongings just got into a truck that past Sunday (February 17th) A WEEK LATE. I ask why it is getting on to a truck a week late, and I am met with a snarky response that she doesn't know why. When I ask her what day the movers will be in California, she also has no response to that because the company itself does not handle the drivers' drop off schedules and I will have to call the driver to verify the date of arrival. She gives me his phone number, no answer, and the voicemail box is full. I call again the next day, no answer, voicemail box is full. The weekend comes, and I'm highly upset because I have been living in California with only one suitcase of clothes, no furniture, no kitchen supplies for three weeks. I finally receive a call on the Saturday (February 23rd), and the driver says he will MAYBE be able to able to make it the next day, but will most likely come on Monday. I tell him that I need him to come on Sunday, because I need to work on Monday, he gives me attitude and says he won't come after 3 pm on Sunday so it'll depend on how fast the first drop off will be. I was lucky enough that his first drop off did go quickly and I received my belongings that Sunday (February 24th). In addition, most of my furniture was damaged due to poor packaging.

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. They are merely brokers that contract jobs to unqualified movers. They are uncommunicative, rude, and unhelpful. I moved cross country in a very short period of time and I was hoping that hiring movers (rather than renting a u-haul) would be less stressful on me while I focused on starting a new, high demanding job, and starting a new life away from family and friends. This company did nothing but add stress to my move. In hindsight, I think I am lucky that my belongings made it out to California within a month, had I not called several times, and made several complaints, I think it would have taken longer. American Home Relocation is an outrageous, deceitful company that does not care about its customers. Find a more reputable company or move your belongings yourself!

Long-distance move from Ohio to Arizona

Interstate move from OH to AZ.

WARNING! Check OUT EVERYTHING about this company on as many sites as possible including pissedconsumers.com and the BBB Chicago area (F RATING and ALERT issued due to # of complaints). This company is a long distance BROKER. Their website talks about “our” movers, etc., and has a photo of an AHR truck, which I don’t think exists (DOT states they have 1 TRUCK). Website claims they are based in GA, but they are incorporated in IL. Somehow affiliated with Moving Services Group LLC in GA - “customer service”, etc. located there. Issues: 1. Doubled their quote after load picked up- claiming overload. Their paperwork indicated it was 9 lbs. under - the driver who picked up the load also called me the next day with the weight. There was no way that the load weighed as much as claimed. Then demanded full payment before they would even schedule delivery (not remainder due ON delivery as the Binding Estimate we signed states).Had to complete and notarize 4 forms for them to accept my credit card. 2. No communication/liars: they are brokers (without a brokers license). They took my items to a warehouse in IL - never told me it was going into storage. I assumed when they (2 guys from GA) picked up the load in a small box truck (no identification on it), they were taking it to load onto a bigger truck going to AZ. The delivery date was, as requested, 11/2-3. I was told up until that date, that items were in transit. On 11/2, while driving to AZ , I was first informed they did not receive payment and won't schedule until it is received. They later "discovered " payment was received but delivery won't be for another 7-21 business days from 11/2. Rudest and most inept operation- no return messages/calls. I found out about the delivery date before they did! 3. Delivery: There was only one guy on the truck so my son had to help unload. Missing 6 out of 24 boxes (and one was left behind at my house). AHR, or their cohorts out of GA, picked up the load on 10/20/18 and a third party, 495 Movers, delivered on 11/16/18. I informed Jerry Whaley (678-471-4581) who is the Principal/Dispatcher- immediately that the boxes were missing. First told me all boxes were accounted for and loaded on truck. After practically begging him to look in warehouse, he called back to say that he had them (5 or 6) and that we "HAVE HIS WORD" that he will get them to AZ, "no charge." We waited to hear from him but I had to contact him every time for any updates. He used excuses that he couldn't find a truck going to that part of AZ. Then, he couldn't find a truck going to AZ at all, although they claimed AZ is their most popular destination ( per emails with quote). To make a long story short (yes there is more), months passed and still no boxes. In early January and 2 weeks later, I texted Whaley and told him to return them to me in OH. No response. We decided last week to go to Chicago (700 mi round trip) and get the boxes ourselves. He was all game for that! We went to the warehouse on W48th
Place in Chicago and got the 4 remaining boxes. He refused to reimburse us for our travel expenses or the cost to ship to AZ ourselves. AHR was formed in Oct. 2017 but the number of complaints far exceed what you would expect from a legitimate business! DOT and IL Atty General notified.

Missing belongings.

This company is terrible. Items were lost and damaged and no one will do anything about it. I'm missing very meaningful sentimental belongings, yet I can't even get a human being to contact me with answers. I was given info for moving claims and that's supposed to be good enough. I gave thousands of dollars and signed a contract, but a human can't even tell me if I'll ever see my belongings again. Using this company was a HUGE mistake. Never again.

The American Home Relocation company moving crew worked tirelessly, even when I thought that we were facing insurmountable challenges. The team members were super polite and efficient in their work. Alan from American Home made promises and quoted a price to win our business. They showed up very unprofessional. They held our belongings hostage until we gave them additional money. 25% over the agreed to price. I would not recommend them to anyone. They told us what we wanted to hear and then tried to increase the price on the pick. I refused and told them to unload. They again agreed to the price and said it was okay. Once delivered they would not unload unload we got cash of a 25% increase. Not a good way to do business.

Scammers And Thieves.

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! Everything you read here is true and much worse. I was given a quote of $3500. No one from the company would answer my phone calls or emails. I did not hear anything from anyone until ONE DAY prior to my move date at 7:30pm. Only to tell me they weren't coming the next day. I had to close on the house on Monday and that is when they came! The movers had no ID, no information from the company, could not give me a copy of paperwork that I signed. Then after taking 12 hours to pack up a small house, they stated they would not deliver until I paid them $2000 more than what was quoted - IN CASH! Where does one get cash on a Monday night at 8pm? Because they came so late and a day late, I had to drive all night to make the closing on my new house in another state. The movers also stated that I needed to give them a tip in order to have my belongings delivered. I gave them $250. The next day they came at 2pm instead of 8am. They demanded another $2500 in cash before they would unload my belongings. I had given them a personal check the night before as I had no other options. They took the check. After a lot of crying, begging, running around to ATM machines, setting up Zelle pay and transferring the money to Allen (the mover did not know his last name) the next day, I ended up giving them an additional $2500 in transferred money and $1500 in cash. My items are broken, they dropped boxes in the yard, their dog ran in my house and jumped all over my white couch with muddy feet. And to top it all off, when I looked at my checking account five days later, they had cashed my original check which they gave back to me unsigned and unscanned (into a bank scanner). They stole an additional $2000 from me by taking a picture of the check and using a second already endorsed check and sending those through electronically to my bank. The police, my bank, my attorney, and the FBI are all working on getting my money back, the stolen $2000 and the coerced against-my-will $1500 above and beyond the quoted price. This company and the owner ALLEN are thieves and crooks. DO NOT USE THEM UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! Any company would be better than these thugs. There is no rating low enough for this company. Rating them as POOR is much more than they deserve. Despicable, hellish, scumbags are better ratings.

Long-distance move from Kansas to Florida

Horrible Moving Experience.

Horrible moving experience, with terrible customer service! I would not recommend American Home Relocation. This moving company was very unprofessional, inept, total liars, and should be shut down. I actually booked my move with another moving company which was a broker, and they passed me onto this company. First, they were 4 days late in picking up my belongings with no communication which caused me monetary damages. I must have made 50 calls to their customer service (they answer as Moving Services) and to a dispatch guy named Eli trying to get my goods picked up, as my home sold and my closing date was in 3 days. Phone calls were not returned, and I got one excuse and time after another. Finally, a truck arrived and my goods were picked up, but the guys were very pushy on tips and kept telling me they needed to increase my cost, but if I would pay half the cost in cash tips, he would not report the increase to his boss! I felt like it was dirty and underhanded. They were very sloppy on the paperwork and inventory list. They still increased the cost of my move, which seemed arbitrary and dishonest. Then, they did not deliver my goods for 34 days after pickup, and 29 days after my delivery window started! I moved from the Kansas City area to Ocala Florida, and they took my goods to Chicago and stored them in a warehouse, and gave me one excuse after another why they could not deliver. I talked to a manager named Alan many times, and he told me that my goods were on a truck and would be delivered shortly. After a week plus of this, I finally talked to Jerry in dispatch and he told me my goods were still in Chicago, not on a truck, and they were still working on getting a truck for my delivery. So Alan was just lying to me the whole time! When I finally received my goods, my desk was smashed and ruined, and several items were missing. What a stressful and horrible experience. Customer service was horrible, they would not return calls and rarely had any info for you. The only good thing was Jerry in dispatch, he seemed to give me accurate info at least. Beware, hire a moving company with their own fleet or use pods so you have some control.

Long-distance move from Birmingham, AL to Fort Lauderdale, FL

Moving Company Complete Disaster.

This company was one of the least professional companies I have ever had the displeasure of doing business with. They were late to picking up my stuff for moving, took 6 1/2 hours to load the truck and broke my ceiling fan while moving things out of the apartment. They then cancelled the original agreed upon delivery date, the secondary delivery date we scheduled, and finally we late upon arrival for the third set delivery date. They overcharged my delivery and threatened to lock my items in storage if I did not pay. More than half of my boxes were damaged or broken all together. They were missing multiple items upon delivery as well that are irreplaceable. Do not trust this company, find another mover at all costs.

Long-distance move from Flint, MI to Arlington, TX

Totally Unprofessional and Unreliable.

My goods were packed Jun 19, 2019. Packing was awesome. As of date, like most reviewers I'm told there is no long distance driver available and will be contacted once they find one. Now mind you, how you pick up some ones household goods with no driver is beyond me. Jerry stated all the long distance drivers quit and went local due to DOT regulations of stopping rather than driving straight through. Bunch of non-sense. But that's how they try to screw you over. Jerry has now stopped taking my calls and will only text. He again referred me to customer service who answers the phone so rude, as if I have their belongings. When I asked that they find another carrier, I was again referred to customer service and was told in order to pick up my goods myself, I'd need to pay the balance. My move was from MI - TX. They received my move through a another company as a sub-contractor. I'll never use them again, or refer them. Totally unprofessional. If I could rate a zero, they would get it!! Hoping to get my goods by August! I used U-Haul for the remainder of my goods. No issues and on time delivery. Will definitively use them should I ever move again local or long distance. Awesome customer service, constant communication and on-time delivery just as promised. Last, they had no issues securing a long distance driver.

Long-distance move from Rantoul, IL to Oakland, MN

Bad Experience.

If you care about timely service, don't hire these people. If you care about actually getting your stuff after movers pick it up, don't hire these people. If you care about customer service, don't hire these people. I have only once heard of such a bad moving company and they were later proven to be scammers. Find another company seriously it's worth the money..Scammers!!

Long-distance move from Des Moines, IA to Fort Knox, KY

Do Not Hire!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! Military Movers- AVOID THESE COMPANIES!!
TERRIBLE experience, start to finish. Merit Moving will low-ball their estimate to ensure you do business with them. They do not conduct a site survey to ensure they have a good estimate of items to be moved. They do not have nor apply any professional moving judgement in developing their estimates. I had a 3-bedroom house with a basement. They estimated I needed 100 sq ft of space – WRONG! Because of their low-ball estimate, the company they subcontracted the move to – American Home Relocation - charged me charge me $1,000 during the middle of loading my items. Practically holding my goods hostage because Merit Moving did a lousy job. I would have gone with my initial avenue if Merit Moving didn’t promise the price they did.
Merit Moving did not confirm pick up date until the afternoon before. I had to call and email to get that information from them.
The subcontracted movers from – American Home Relocation (moving services) were unprofessional and inexperienced. They showed up in a rented Ryder truck. They were at my house from 3pm-1130pm. The Foreman was lazy, complained about being hungry, made awkward conversation, inappropriate jokes, convinced my friends to take him to the gas station, and then sat on my floor and ate for an hour. They struggled to move my bed and my treadmill from the upstairs. They destroyed my treadmill and it is unusable to this day. They did not take 2 pick-up truck loads worth of goods which I had to figure out how to move myself.
I had a terrible experience working with American Home Relocation customer service department. I requested to utilized up to 30 days of free storage but they told my spouse that keep your stuff in storage for 30 days regardless of when you need it. They would not schedule delivery when I called. They said, “they would call me when a truck was passing through my way”. 2.5 weeks later, they called me on a Wednesday night at 8pm and said they would deliver my stuff at 10am Thursday. I had to travel from out of state to make that appointment.
I told American Home Relocation multiple times, the delivery team had to pass a background check at the military gate. They did not listen. One person was able to get onto Post and it took him over 6 hours to unload my stuff by himself. Per his words, it should have taken 3 hours. The man that unloaded my goods was the only positive highlight of the whole experience.
The company does not provide a claims form for damaged goods. I asked for a claims form at delivery and emailed twice requesting it but did not receive it. My treadmill is destroyed and the moving company has not done anything.
Weight ticket - Both Merit Moving and American Home Relocations said they could provide me with weight tickets even though my move was based on cubic sq. ft. I asked numerous times to confirm. I did not receive any weight ticket and I DID NOT get reimbursed for my military move because of this. I would have gone with a different company or worked out an arrangement with the man who delivered my goods if the companies would said they would not provide a weight ticket. DO NOT HIRE!

Long-distance move from Michigan to Louisiana

Don’t Use at this Company.

Everything seemed great at the beginning. Jerry assured me I’d have delivery from starting point MI delivery to LA in 7-10 days. 20 days later and nothing. Jerry refuses my texts and Us Household now says Boost picked up. I doubt I’ll ever see my things. Gave it a 1 because I had to
